ABOUT ME
Hello There!
I’m Niti, a twenty-something gal, with too much curiosity for one person to have. I’ve been traveling since I was twenty when, on a whim, I bought a ticket to Budapest – my first ‘big girl’ trip as a junior in college during spring break. This experience opened up my travel can of worms. Since then, I’ve traveled to mountains and deserts and cities, oftentimes solo.
I’ve found a passion in learning about people and their cultures. From my journey I’ve learned that at the end of the day, we are all more similar than different.
I hope Well Rested Girl inspires you to find your wildest adventures.
What Does it Mean to Be Well?
It all started with not getting enough sleep. Burnout and exhausted from my 9-5 (or really 9-6 or 8-7), I decided to take a sabbatical from my corporate job and move to Buenos Aires, Argentina for six months to learn Spanish. Nervous and anxious about the journey I was about to take, going on sabbatical has undoubtedly been the best decision made.
West Rested Girl came to be when I had a little bit too much time on my hands while exploring the different barrios in Buenos Aires. With my boyfriend’s encouragement and watching a video on ‘how do I create a blog’, I impulsively pulsed domain rights to ‘Well Rested Girl’ and downloaded WordPress within the span of two hours.
Well Rested Girl focuses on what it means to ‘be well’. Wellness is a term that encompasses nurturing the entirety of what makes you ‘you’ – physically, spiritually, and mentally. This is beyond exercising or eating the right nutrients. For me, being well means that my soul is fulfilled by broadening my perspective and understanding of the different screws that hold together our collective communities.
Perception vs Perspective
Sometimes used interchangeably or sometimes not at all. We oftentimes get too comfortable in our own routines and bubble that we get stuck – without even realizing it. We all have our own perception – our likes, our customs, our dogmas. The characteristics that make us unique. On the other hand, perspective allows you to remove yourself from your view point and see the world from some else’s eyes.
Both of these together, understanding of self and seeing life from a bird’s eye point of view, is the most powerful tool to have.
Well Rested Girl is a calumniation of guides and photo essays that shows my perspective of my journey.
I hope this blog inspires you to focus on what it means for you to be well.
